("Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus Presents Mr. and Mrs. Gargantua The Great"; "The Greatest show on Earth"). Note the gorilla holding a "Buy War Bonds" sign, which means it is surely from the World War II era, we do not know for sure the exact war year in which it was printed. If anyone knows more about this poster, please contact us and we will post it here. The modern version of the circus started in 1919 when the Barnum & Bailey's Greatest Show on Earth, a circus created by P. T. Barnum and James Anthony Bailey, was merged with the Ringling Bros. World's Greatest Shows. With weakening attendance and high operating costs, the circus closed on May 21st, 2017 after 146 years. Artist: Bill Bailey Important Added Info: Note that this circus poster has been trimmed and it now measures 25 1/2" x 39". Also note that this poster was tri-folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. The top right corner was diagonally torn off, and someone taped it back on with tape from the front and back. There is a water stain in this area. There are some creases and tears around the rest of the poster (a few of the tears were repaired with tape from the back). Learn More about condition grades
