An Original Vintage Spanish Campaign Book (measures 8 1/4" x 11 3/4" [21 x 30 cm]; 35 pages) (Learn More) Universal 1935 - 1936, the 1935 Spanish studio campaign book featuring Universal movies and stars from that era. Films include: The Bride of Frankenstein, The Raven, Werewolf of London, and more. Stars include: Buck Jones, Claude Rains, Joan Bennett, Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, and many more. Note that this is a very unusual and wonderful campaign book. In 1935, Universal published an unusual regular U.S. campaign book for 1935-36, which was spiral-bound, and had full-page images, but each one was one color only. Perhaps this was a cost cutting measure at the height of the Depression, or perhaps it reflected Universal's own finances at that time. Prior to the discovery of this Spanish campaign book (from Spain), we had THOUGHT that the one-color book described above was the only book Universal published that year. But now we know that they also published this book, which surprisingly has color printing throughout, with full-page ads for all its upcoming movies, many with artwork, and they are far superior to the ones in the U.S. book from the same year (and there are mostly different movies advertised in the Spanish book from the U.S. book, perhaps reflecting that the movies were released slightly later in Spain than they were in the U.S.). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned this wonderful Spanish campaign book (from Spain) before! Condition: very good. The contents of the book were once stapled with two staples at the spine, but the staples are no longer present. There are creases and scuffs on both covers, with a few faint stains. There is some surface paper loss and tiny tears around the edges of the covers. The interior pages have just a few smudges and scuffs, but are generally in pretty nice condition (see our images).
