An Original Vintage World War II Poster (measures 16" x 19 3/4" [41 x 50 cm]) (Learn More) Don't Follow the Pied Piper, the 1940s U.S. World War II (WWII) Home Front poster ("Eat, drink, play - moderately- and stay on the job"; "One of a series of posters sponsored by The National Industrial Information Committee") encouraging workers to keep on task. Note that this poster features Golovin art of Hitler as the Pied Piper leading workers astray. Its intent was to say that people need to pay attention on the job and not "drink and play" too much after work hours, because if they do, they will ultimately be like "rats" following the "Pied Piper" (who is drawn as Hitler, wearing a swastika armband and blowing on a trumpet with swastika notes emerging from it!). This might seem "heavy handed" by today's standards, but the fate of the world was at stake at that time! Artist: Golovin Important Added Info: Note that this poster was placed onto a very thin linen backing, likely soon after it was made, to help preserve it. It had been folded four times horizontally at one time, but that was before it was backed, and re-folding it or rolling it would likely damage the poster, so we will only send it to the new owner in a large flat package. The poster has four unevenly spaced horizontal folds, with many smudges and creases around the edges, and some smudges in the background areas.
