Erlanger, Charles B. Dillingham & Florenz Ziegfeld Jr."; it includes the famous sea battle and chariot race that the later version of this movie is most famous for) starring Ramon Novarro (in the title role as Ben-Hur), Betty Bronson (as Mary), May McAvoy (as Esther), Francis X. Bushman (as Messala), Carmel Myers (as Iras), Kathleen Key (as Tirzah), Frank Currier, Claire McDowell, Clark Gable (as a Roman guard; in one of his 14 uncredited roles prior to making his real debut in 1931's "The Painted Desert"), and Claude Payton (as Jesus Christ). Note that this movie was advertised as being "Filmed in its entirety in Italy", but actually, several of the scenes were filmed in Hollywood! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the American posters from this classic silent movie are disappointing, for they show romantic images of Ramon Novarro and his female co-star, but they certainly do not show the scenes for which the movie is best remembered. First release German items from this movie have spectacular art and images of Novarro riding in the chariot race, the most famous sequence from this movie. Also, note that pre-World War II German posters are EXTREMELY rare. Very few are offered in the collectors' market, especially those from major U.S. movies! Also note that we have pictured the front cover, the back cover, and an interior 2-page spread from this program. Note that on January 6th of this year we auctioned a mostly single owner collection of 551 German and Austrian programs, that included many rare and wonderful titles, but now we have been consigned (from a new consignor) 128 German and Austrian programs which include some programs that are duplicates of ones we auctioned on January 6th, but which also includes a large number of programs which we have never auctioned before, including many rare and wonderful titles (especially super-rare pre-World War II titles from both countries, and some scarce titles from during World War II and from immediately after)! If you have the slightest interest in these, be sure to look over all of the 128 programs we are currently offering. We promise you won't be disappointed! Condition: good. There is separation along the top and bottom of the spine of the program and there is a small amount of tattering around the edges of the program. There are scuffs and creases scattered throughout the front and back covers of the program. Learn More about condition grades
