Organized by the San Francisco Film Society, the festival is held each spring for two weeks, presenting around 200 films from over 50 countries annually. The festival highlights current trends in international film and video production with an emphasis on work that has not yet secured U.S. distribution. Artist: Saul Bass Important Added Info: This poster may be an uncut printer's test poster (often referred to as a "printer's proof")! Before a poster was printed in large quantities, the printer would print a limited number of posters as "test" posters. Because they needed to be shown to people at the studio, people in the art department, the stars, etc, they would print a number of test posters and distribute them to these people. Once these printer's test posters were shown to the various people in a position to "OK" them, the printer would print the full print run of the posters. As noted above, it seems quite likely that this poster might have been intended to be displayed without the thin white borders (trimmed to 27" x 41", and to create a "full bleed", meaning it would have no white borders at all), because that would have been much more striking, but we have never seen such a poster, so it is also possible that it was simply designed to be an odd size with unusual thin borders. Condition: fine. The poster was clearly never used, and has some very minor creases around the edges, but it is otherwise in excellent condition! Learn More about condition grades
