Notre Histoire (literally translates to "Our History"), the circa 1931 series of French educational posters, published by Delagrave and featuring Jacques Onfroy de Breville (Job) artwork of important events in French history. Such events include: World War I (WWI), Napoleon Bonaparte in exile on Saint Helena, Joan of Arc on her way to Chinon, and many more
Artist: Jacques Onfroy de Breville
Important Added Info: Note that we were consigned nine different posters from this series (we don't know how many there were in all). We are auctioning those nine in nine separate auctions.

Note that this poster has a tagline of La Patrie en Danger (literally translates to "The Fatherland in Danger"). La Patrie en Danger was the start of a declaration by the French Assembly in 1792 in response to Prussia joining Austria against France. It was part of the growing idea of "people's war" which developed during the French Revolution, where ideology "not only mobilized manpower for the regular armies, but also inspired ordinary people to fight on their own account."

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had a few faint brown stains in parts of the borders, and some other minor border wear. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
