An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Belgian Movie Poster (measures 18" x 24 3/4" [46 x 63 cm]) (Learn More) Les Parapluies de Cherbourg (released in the U.S. in 1965 as "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg"), the classic 1964 Jacques Demy French/German romantic doomed romance musical ("For all the young lovers of the world"; "A film for all the young lovers of the world"; "In song and color"; "Set to music by Michel Legrand"; a filmed operetta where everyone sings every line) starring Catherine Deneuve, Nino Castelnuovo, Anne Vernon, Marc Michel, Ellen Farner, Mireille Perry, and Harald Wolff. Note that just about everyone agrees this is a wonderful movie. In addition to the fine acting and writing, the voices were dubbed in, and yet it was done so well that most viewers don't realize this at all (and since all the dialog is sung, this means that the actors did not get to say one word!). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: d'apres Chica Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster! We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning. What is especially odd about it is that it is an unusual size for a Belgian poster, and it is similar in size to the "French small" poster, and yet it is definitely from Belgium (see the small printing at the bottom of the poster). It also has an image that is not on any other poster! However, it is similar to the image from the French posters, which are credited to "Chica", but the French posters have a different photographic image of the stars. The poster designer of this poster added "d'apres Chica", obviously meaning it was inspired by the French Chica poster, and it does have the same title design and background, so in that sense, this was not the first time this artwork was used. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The poster was folded once in each direction and then was lightly partially folded a second time horizontally, resulting in two partial horizontal folds.
