Franklin silent romantic Asian forbidden interracial romantic melodrama (one of an endless number of such movies that were so popular in the late 1910s and early 1920s, with non-Asians playing all the Asian roles; Talmadge is the daughter of a rich Chinese man in China, who is in love with the U.S. ambassador, and she secretly marries him, and her father gives her to the Emperor, and when he finds out she has had a child with a white man has Talmadge killed; when their daughter grows up, she is also played by Talmadge, and she escapes to Manila where she meets a white soldier and falls in love, and they too are forbidden to marry; as luck would have it, her lover works for her father, who had no idea he had a child, and once he learns she is his daughter, he gives his blessing to their marriage) starring Norma Talmadge, Thomas Meighan, E.
