An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Italian Locandina Movie Poster (measures approximately 13" x 27") (Learn More) Il Deserto Rosso (released in the U.S. in 1965 as "Red Desert"), the classic 1964 Michelangelo Antonioni Italian family dysfunctional relationship mental illness melodrama ("Michelangelo Antonioni in his first color film.") starring Monica Vitti, Richard Harris ("[star of 'This Sporting Life']"), Carlo Chionetti (billed as "Carlo De Pra"), Rita Renoir, Xenia Valderi, and Aldo Grotti. Note that this is what's known as a "difficult" movie! It is slow moving with lots of talking and little action of any kind. But, on repeated viewings, it often grows on the viewer until they often consider it to be a masterpiece! Other movies like this include "The Passion of Joan of Arc", "Last Year at Marienbad" and several others. If you like the movies like this you have seen you should definitely also watch this one! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare "country of origin" poster for this Italian movie! Also note that this Italian locandina measures approximately 13" x 27". Condition: good. This poster was linenbacked, but it was either NOT linenbacked by a very talented restorer, OR it was linenbacked many years ago, and has received rough handling over the years, OR it had fairly significant defects that were not well restored. If it was restored, you can clearly see signs of the restoration even from a distance. This is a poster that would surely benefit from additional professional restoration. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had creases across the center foldline and many scuffs and creases throughout the image. Linenbacking has somewhat minimized these, but they are still noticeable. I would think many collectors could display this poster just as it is and be happy, but please do not bid on this poster unless you have read the above! Learn More about condition grades
