An Unfolded Two-Sided Special Poster (measures 16 1/2" x 23 1/2" [42 x 60 cm]) (Learn More)

Emory Douglas worked as the Minister of Culture for the Black Panther Party from 1967 until the Party disbanded in the 1980s. His graphic art was featured in most issues of the newspaper The Black Panther. As the art director, designer, and main illustrator for The Black Panther newspaper, Douglas created images that became icons, representing black African American struggles during the 1960s and 1970s.
Artist: Emory Douglas
Important Added Info: Note that this poster is double-sided, but not in the regular way. There is a different image on each side of the poster. We have provided an image of each side, and please realize that the winner of this auction will receive ONE poster! The image on the front shows an artwork image by Emory Douglas of an armed revolutionary with the tagline "Afro-American solidarity with the oppressed People of the world". The other side has Emory Douglas art of H. Rap Brown (now known as Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin). We found information on the Internet that these image on the back was originally created in 1967 and the one on the front is dated 1969, and we think that the poster is surely an original from 1969 (and possibly it was printed on the back of a 1967 poster).

Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded, but it has many light creases scattered throughout. It can still be displayed and enjoyed as it is, although one would have to choose what side to display, or one could rotate it!
