An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) The Sea Beast, the 1926 Millard Webb silent seafaring ocean adventure thriller ("No picture ever had a greater star -No star ever had a greater picture"; "From the story 'Moby Dick' by Herman Melville") starring John Barrymore (as Captain Ahab Ceeley), Dolores Costello, George O'Hara, Mike Donlin, Sam Baker (as Queequeeq), and Sojin Kamiyama (as Fedallah). Note that the movie was not called "Moby Dick", and yet it is clearly based on that classic novel, and we don't know why they didn't call it "Moby Dick", unless they worried that people wouldn't know what the movie was about! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been paperbacked. This means the poster was backed onto a board backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Condition: good to very good. There was a small hole under the "B" of "Beast" in the title. There was a nail hole in the middle of the right border in the green border area. Both of these basically minor defects were well corrected during the paperbacking process. All of the light background areas of the window card and the blank borders had varying amounts of light water staining. The person who paperbacked the card chose to lighten the staining through expert chemical means, but did not re-paint any of the card. From any distance away, the light staining kind of fades into the background, and seems like "aging" (and to me is not distracting). Personally, I much prefer this rare and wonderful window card this way than to have it "dipped in paint", so as to have it appear "perfect". Learn More about condition grades
