An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 12 1/4" x 15"; 36 pages) (Learn More)

The Arkansas Traveler, the 1938 Alfred Santell Southern small town newspaper journalism comedy ("in a human story full of laughs and excitement!"; "How you'll laugh as Bob Burns!"; "Based on a story by Jack Cunningham"; about a small town newspaper owned by a kindly widow and the mysterious nameless traveler who comes to town and helps save the paper) starring Bob Burns, Fay Bainter, John Beal, Irvin S. Cobb, Jean Parker, Lyle Talbot, Dickie Moore, and Porter Hall. Note that the above tagline "How you'll laugh as Bob Burns!" is NOT a typo! That is exactly how it appeared on the poster. We imagine someone goofed in 1938 and that it should have read "How you'll laugh at Bob Burns!". Note that this movie has great similarities to the 1943 James Cagney movie Johnny Come Lately, but the two movies have entirely different writers credited.

Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!

Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. The covers are separated at the spine and also separated from the pressbook.
