Important Added Info: Note 2001: A Space Odyssey opened in 70mm in 1968 in a roadshow release. In 1969 it went into wide release in 35mm, and the movie was not as successful. The film was then given an entirely new 70mm New York City ad campaign in March 1970. That proved successful and the movie received a national release in 1970 (part of the continuous first release since 1968), and the one-sheet for this release shows the star child (but it has less color than the "wildposting" one-sheet used in New York). Also, this poster has a 1970 copyright date at bottom right, but has an NSS stamp of 1968 on the back. It is commonly accepted by collectors that this poster was indeed printed in 1970, but that it was mistakenly stamped with the original NSS number on the back in 1970. Condition: very good. The poster was oddly folded resulting in two vertical folds instead of the usual one and there are minor creases and scuff marks scattered throughout (mostly along the foldlines). There are some pin holes around the edges of the poster in the blank borders and there are some sticky areas on the back of the poster around the edges (one must be careful when unfolding the poster but they do not appear to have any effect on the front). The poster is otherwise in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
