An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) The Lost Squadron (released in Sweden as "Hollywoods Satan"), the 1932 George Archainbaud World War I (WWI) military airplane aviation stunt pilot movie-making action thriller ("Hollywood gave its magic soul to make this picture"; "Shatters the heavens! Rends the skies... a thunderbolt lashing and tearing its way to the drumming heights of thrilldom."; "Mortal eye has never before witnessed its like"; "A heaven torn asunder! A world flashing into space! Dazzle! Glitter!"; "Flaring panorama of sensation..."; "A juggernaut lashing and tearing its way to drumming heights of thrilldom... a love story that hits the vaulted heights of drama..."; "Thrill upon thrill"; "Packed with thrills"; "A picture in the making with six other great stars"; about World War I pilots who are forced to find work as Hollywood stunt fliers, and they work on a movie with a crazy director, played by Erich von Stroheim, who parodies himself, and there is a subplot with von Stroheim insanely jealous of his gorgeous young wife, played by Mary Astor!) starring Richard Dix, Mary Astor, Erich von Stroheim, Dorothy Jordan, Joel McCrea, and Robert Armstrong NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this insert, and that was 9 years ago! Also note that this poster has never been machine folded! Some pre-1970 insert posters were machine folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 insert posters (note that most post-1970 inserts were NOT machine folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those inserts). Finally, note that because this insert was printed on a slightly heavier paper, it makes far more sense for it to be sent in a large flat package than rolled in a tube, because we are afraid that rolling it could cause damage to it, and we would hate for that to happen! We will only send it rolled in a tube if the buyer insists, and accepts full responsibility in case there is any damage to it. Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. I had stains and writing in the "LO" of "LOST" in the title. It had tiny pinholes around the edges and some creases in the top blank border, and smudges in the bottom blank border. There are three numbers in the center of the bottom blank border that were put there because this came from an amazing collection of inserts, where the owner numbered them in the bottom blank border. It had a few faint smudges scattered throughout. Someone put paint in the "LO" of "LOST", which likely matched well many years ago when it was done, but now is noticeable. One could certainly have a restorer re-restore those two letters only, or perform restoration to the other relatively minor defects as well, or the new owner could leave the poster as is. Whatever they decide, they will have a really cool and rare poster to display on their wall! Learn More about condition grades
