Date Sold 8/4/2024Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Unfolded World War II Poster (measures 24" x 36" [61 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Stay On the Job, the 1942 U.S. World War II (WWII) Home Front poster ("For holding up American production"; "Hitler decorates the absent worker... for the guns that will not shoot - the planes that will not bomb - the tanks that will not attack.") encouraging workers to avoid absenteeism, featuring an image of a bloody hand holding a Nazi medal attached to a swastika, saying that those who take any time off from production work are directly helping the Nazis and facetiously saying that they would receive an award from Adolf Hitler himself for doing so! This poster certainly seems not only "heavy handed" to today's world, but outright "over the top", but of course America during World War II was very conscious of not accidentally helping the enemy in any way, even by taking an occasional day off. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this war poster (6 years ago, when it sold for $337), and that example has now been reconsigned to us, so this is still the only example we have ever auctioned! Also note that this poster was never folded and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has some creases and tiny tears around the edges and a pair of staple holes in each corner. Otherwise, it is in nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
