An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 7 5/8" x 11 5/8" [19 x 30 cm]; 2 pages) (Learn More) Casablanca, the classic 1942 Michael Curtiz (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) anti-Nazi World War II (WWII) romantic love triangle melodrama ("From a play by Murray Burnett and June Alison"; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award; it is interesting to note that the movie was made while World War II was being fought, and at a point when it seemed very real that Germany might take over the entire world, and in that context, the strong emotions expressed throughout the movie are all the more poignant, given what was going on in the world at that time) starring Humphrey Bogart (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as "Rick", Richard Blaine), Ingrid Bergman (as Ilsa Lund), Paul Henreid (as Victor Laszlo), Claude Rains (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Captain Renault), Conrad Veidt (as Major Strasser), Sydney Greenstreet (as Signor Ferrari), Peter Lorre (as Ugarte), S.Z. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this herald, and it sold for $1,167! Note that this is one of a remarkable collection of 31 heralds we are currently auctioning (in 31 separate auctions). They were collected over many decades, and include many wonderful horror ones, plus other very top titles. If one tried to duplicate this collection, it would likely take many years to do so! Condition: good to very good. The other example of this herald that we sold had a small white border on the left and right. It is possible this herald had that trimmed off, but it is also possible that it was just printed differently from the other one (since heralds were printed in many places). The herald also has minor wear on the folds (there are some extra folds) and it has printing on the back that slightly bleeds through to the front in the blank white areas, but it is pretty slight, and the herald will display well on the new owner's wall!
