Date Sold 4/18/2013 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 4 Undated (probably 1960s) Re-Release Vintage 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Television Stills (Learn More) The Bride Came C.O.D., the classic 1941 William Keighley screwball romantic kidnapped heiress comedy ("From the Story by Kenneth Earl and M.M. Musselman"; "James Cagney and Bette Davis have the time of their lives in the hit of their lives"; one of only two movies these two great stars made together, and it is a shame, for they had wonderful chemistry; this is the movie where Bette Davis delivers the great line, "Mustard!") starring James Cagney, Bette Davis, Stuart Erwin, William Frawley, Eugene Pallette, Jack Carson, George Tobias, and Harry Davenport. Sadly, this was only the second time Cagney and Davis worked together. This is a very funny and entertaining movie, and it is clear they had great chemistry! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that two of these stills are undated and measure 8" x 10", and appear to look identical to stills from the first release of this movie. But they are on a "newer" paper stock that is blank on the back ("newer" than the 1930s or 1940s, but consistent with the paper stock used in the 1960s, and the printing is quite nice). We believe that they were created in the 1960s when this movie was shown on TV, and that stills like these were distributed to TV stations. We have been consigned some large collections of stills that came directly from TV stations, and they included a large number of stills that are very similar to these, which makes us think it is even more likely that these were created in the 1960s for TV use. But we can't say for certain, so please do not bid on these stills unless you can accept that uncertainty as to when they were created. Also note that one of these stills was used for a newspaper ad, and there are crop lines and printer's instructions written in grease pencil on the front of the still. Condition: good to very good. The still pictured at top left has a slight crease in the ride side of the image mostly only noticeable when the still is tilted to the light. The still pictured at bottom left has crop lines and writing in the blank borders, but the stills are in otherwise pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
