An Original Vintage 7 1/4" x 9" [18 x 23 cm] Television Still (Learn More) The Jack Benny Program (also known as "The Jack Benny Show"), the 1950 - 1965 Frederick De Cordova television (TV) comedy sketch series starring Jack Benny, Don Wilson, Eddie 'Rochester' Anderson, Dennis Day, May Livingstone, and Mel Blanc. In 1959, there was a special episode of this show that was an hour long and had special guest performers, and again in 1966, after the show ended its regular run, there was another special hour long episode, and both of those shows were titled "The Jack Benny Hour". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still is from the first showing of the 9/10/50 episode of "The Jack Benny Show". We know that for certain because it has the date printed on the snipe on the back. It is very hard to find stills from 1950s or 1960s TV episodes that are absolutely from the first release, and are surely not from a 1960s or 1970s re-broadcast. Also note that this still measures 7 1/4" x 9" [18 x 23 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Note that this still was consigned to us by legendary collector/dealer Marty Davis! Marty was hired in 1972 to evaluate the entire collection of W. Ward Marsh (1893-1971), who was the film critic for the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper from 1919, until his retirement in 1970. In 1919 Marsh wrote his first of 23,000 movie reviews for the Plain Dealer. Marsh died less than a year after his retirement in 1970. His library, and photographic and memorabilia archives were given to the proprietor of Cleveland's finest bookstore. Marty Davis was the first person with a background in film history and collectibles to examine the archives. He worked for three to four hours a day, for six months, and his compensation was his pick of the archives. This still is from the W. Ward Marsh archives, and it was stamped on the back by Marty Davis to indicate that it came from this legendary collection. Condition: good to very good. The still has slightly darkened unevenly. There are several creases in the lower right, and light rippling at center, caused by the snipe glued to the back, but it is more "felt" than seen. Learn More about condition grades
