Wellman Northern Africa French Foreign Legion military war family relationship melodrama ("Gary Cooper is back at his fighting best in the most thrilling film of the Foreign Legion"; "Based on the Novel by Percival Christopher Wren"; about three brothers who all end up in the French Foreign Legion, serving together in the exact same location in North Africa) starring Gary Cooper (in the title role as Michael 'Beau' Geste), Ray Milland, Robert Preston, Brian Donlevy (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Susan Hayward (in her second credited movie role!), J. Carrol Naish, Donald O'Connor, James Stephenson, Heather Thatcher, and G.P. Huntley NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the still shows a great candid image of director William Wellman on a scaffold outside the fort that was built in the California desert, lining up a shot that shows both the Legionnaires inside the fort and the attacking Arabs outside (note that the fort was only partially built with only the top completed, and you can see the unbuilt part at the bottom left of the image!). Also note that the stars of the movie, Gary Cooper and Brian Donlevy, are in the scene, even though they are very small! Also note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. There is a stamp on the back of the still marking it "APPROVED", with the date "JUL 19 1939". Note that there is information about the still printed on the back. Condition: very good to fine.
