An Undated (probably 1930s) Re-Release Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Born to the West, the 1937 Charles Barton cowboy western (based on the novel by Zane Grey) starring John Wayne, Marsha Hunt, Johnny Mack Brown, Monte Blue, Lucien Littlefield, and Nick Lukats. Note that the IMDb claims that there was a "clerical error" that resulted in Alan Ladd's name being added to the cast (as "Inspector"), but that he was not actually in the movie (he was in just a few movies at this time in very minor roles). Apparently, this clerical error was repeated in 1950, because when the movie was re-released that year (under the title of "Hell Town"), Alan Ladd's name appeared prominently in the credits!

Important Added Info: Note that this card is a REALLY major mystery to us! It is definitely NOT first release because that would have had the studio Paramount prominently billed. But what exactly is it? John Wayne was top-billed when this movie was first released in 1937, and he surely would have remained first billed for any re-releases. Yet, this card has John Mack Brown first and Wayne third, and Wayne is not even pictured. The card seems to likely be from the 1930s, or possibly the early 1940s. Beyond that we are mystified. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note also that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: very good. There is a piece of tape on the back of the center of the top border, but it was not put there for any restoration purpose.
