An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More)

Arsene Lupin, the classic 1932 Jack Conway France master thief crime thriller (based on the novel by Maurice Leblanc) starring John Barrymore (in the title role as Arsene Lupin), Lionel Barrymore (in one of their few movies together), Karen Morley, John Miljan, and Tully Marshall. One of the great strengths of the movie is the interactions between the master thief and the detective who wants so badly to catch him, and it is made even greater by the fact that they are played by real life brothers! Note that Arsene Lupin is one of the two most legendary French crime figures, the other being Fantomas. Arsene Lupin was introduced in 1905 and Fantomas in 1911. Unlike Fantomas, who would do anything to get what he wanted, including murder, Arsene Lupin was a "gentleman thief", who did not hurt the people he robbed, and was kind of a "Robin Hood"! There have been a number of different Arsene Lupin movies over the years.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we previously auctioned four examples of this insert, but the last one was 26 years ago! Note that this poster could conceivably be rolled in a tube, but because it is old and somewhat fragile, we intend to send it in a large flat package, and will only send it rolled if the new owner accepts responsibility if it is damaged from being rolled. Please bear this in mind before placing your bid on this rare poster.

Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It had tack holes around the edges and someone performed paint restoration to the stains around some of the tack holes and also to a couple of border tears, but without backing the poster. The poster has "4-D" written in the center of the bottom blank border. The poster can certainly be displayed as it is, or one might choose to have border restoration performed, but either way, the new owner will have a great poster to display on their wall!
