An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Japanese Two-Panel "STB" or "Tatekan" Movie Poster (2p; measures 20" x 57" [51 x 145 cm]) (Learn More)

John O'Hara's BUtterfield 8 (the title IS "BUtterfield 8", not "Butterfield 8", because phone numbers back then had the first two letters capitalized, because those were the ones you dialed!), the 1960 Daniel Mann Manhattan New York City call girl romantic love triangle prostitution melodrama ("The most desirable woman in town and the easiest to find... Just call... BUtterfield 8"; "This is Liggett... who called Gloria whenever his wife was away!"; "This is Steve... who knew that no one man owned Gloria!"; "The glamor girl who wakes up ashamed!"; "John O'Hara's Butterfield 8 ...the best seller that tells Gloria's story ...from first man to last"; "Screen Play by Charles Schnee and John Michael Hayes") starring Elizabeth Taylor (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Laurence Harvey, Eddie Fisher (in his final movie role), Dina Merrill, Mildred Dunnock, Betty Field, Jeffrey Lynn, Kay Medford, and Susan Oliver

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have only auctioned one example of this extremely rare poster in all our years of auctioning (and now that very same poster has been reconsigned to us for this auction, so it is still the only example we have ever auctioned)! Note also that this Japanese two-panel was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: good. The two sections were taped together, and there are yellowed tape stains across that area on both sections. There are tack holes around the edges, with a few tears in the borders. Both sections have several horizontal folds and there are a few tack holes scattered in the image (see our image). There is a rectangular area of discoloration in the bottom left, where a snipe might have been tacked to the poster, that caused it to discolor unevenly in that area. We don't know if that is on all examples of this poster, because we have never seen another example of this poster.
