Howard romantic story-of-a-man's-life-told-in-flashbacks melodrama ("The first Narratage production"; written by Preston Sturges; with cinematography by James Wong Howe; the movie begins with a man's death, and then his life is explored in a series of flashbacks; he had great financial success, but at the cost of happiness in his personal life; many people think that this movie was Orson Welles' inspiration for Citizen Kane's structure, as there are many parallels) starring Spencer Tracy, Colleen Moore, Ralph Morgan, Helen Vinson, Phillip Trent, and Henry Kolker
