Date Sold 9/3/2013Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A Linenbacked Special Poster (measures 35" x 49" [89 x 124 cm]) (Learn More) Young Frankenstein (released outside the U.S. as "Frankenstein Junior"), the classic 1974 Mel Brooks monster horror screwball comedy parody ("A Mel Brooks Film"; "Based on characters in the novel 'Frankenstein' by Mary W. Shelley"; "screen story and screenplay by Gene Wilder and Mel Brooks"; a wacky parody of the classic "Bride of Frankenstein") starring Gene Wilder (in the title role as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein), Peter Boyle (as The Monster), Marty Feldman (as Igor), Cloris Leachman, Teri Garr, Kenneth Mars, Madeline Kahn, and Gene Hackman (as the "Blindman"). Note that Gene Hackman and Peter Boyle do a hysterically funny parody of the scene from 1935's The Bride of Frankenstein where the monster encounters a blind hermit! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: John Alvin Important Added Info: Note that we have previously seen a similar poster to this, but it measured 29 1/2" x 49", and we were told that it "was printed in a small quantity (maybe a few hundred, maybe less) and distributed to people associated with the film and to Fox executives.". So we imagine it is quite possible this poster (which measures 35" x 49") is very similar to the above, but we can't say for certain. It is printed on regular "one-sheet" paper, but has no blank borders. It in no way seems to be a commercial poster, and is surely vintage to when the movie first came out. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept the uncertainty about its origins. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded and had very minor border wear. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, but there are a few tiny areas in the left of the top black border that area slightly "lifting" from the linen (any talented restorer could pretty easily re-glue those areas without re-backing the poster).
