An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (27" x 41") (Learn More) Earl Carroll Vanities, the 1945 Joseph Santley romantic showgirl musical ("Based on original story by Cortland Fitzsimmons") starring Dennis O'Keefe, Constance Moore, Eve Arden, Otto Kruger (in the title role as Earl Carroll), Alan Mowbray, Stephanie Bachelor, Pinky Lee, Parkyakarkus, Leon Belasco, Beverly Loyd (she was actually "Beverly Lloyd", but she was sometimes billed as "Beverly Loyd", for unknown reasons!), Edward Gargan, and Woody Herman and His Orchestra NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had a fairly large area of paper loss at the bottom crossfold and some small areas of paper loss along the vertical foldline. The borders were pretty tattered, and the person who did the restoration put new blank white paper over all the borders to even out the appearance (but the small writing at the bottom of the poster was not covered over). This is a common technique used by several top restorers. It is done so well that the majority of collectors are not even aware it has been done, and many do not feel it to be a significant detraction (since it is only blank white area).
