An Autographed Program Page (measures 9 1/4" x 12") (Learn More) Claudette Colbert was a top Hollywood actress from the 1920s to the 1960s. She was born in Paris, but came to New York City as a preteen, and went to public schools. After graduating, she appeared in more than a dozen Broadway plays, and made her first films for Paramount Pictures in their Astoria, Queens studio. She quickly became a star and was soon a major star. Some of her movies include: It Happened One Night (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Midnight, The Palm Beach Story, Bluebeard's Eighth Wife, Cleopatra (the 1934 version, in the title role), Since You Went Away (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Private Worlds (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), and scores of others! She passed away in 1996 at the age of 92. Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Claudette Colbert! It was removed from a program for the play she appeared in "Aren't We All?" in 1985 (there is information about her co-star Rex Harrison on the back) and we have photographed both sides of this page. About the Collection this Item Comes From Note that this item (and 32 others we are auctioning this week, each in its own auction) was consigned to us by an individual who owned a company that made movies and videos with famous celebrities in the 1980s and 1990s. The owner of the company would have the celebrities sign items from their famous films, and sometimes he would find second or third celebrities to autograph an item he already had gotten signed! In addition, he would ask celebrities he came in contact with if they had signed items from other stars that they would sell to him, and he purchased a number of items that way. He also would purchase unsigned items from the famed Larry Edmunds Bookshop in Los Angeles (to have the celebrities sign), and while he was doing that he would also purchase some of their signed items. He would also purchase books by or about movie stars, and he would take those when he would meet those stars in person and have the stars autograph the title page. So all of these 33 autographed items we are auctioning were either obtained in person, obtained from celebrities who obtained them in person, or obtained from the Larry Edmunds Bookshop, and we feel certain that the autograph(s) on this item is authentic! Note that each of the 33 items from this consignor all have this paragraph on them. Condition: very good. The page was neatly removed from the program, but is otherwise in pretty good condition!
