Original Vintage Lobby Card (Measures 11" x 14") (Learn More)

The Silver Treasure, the 1926 Rowland V. Lee silent romantic love triangle silver mine tropical island melodrama ("A mighty romance of love, life, and honor in the struggle for wealth."; "From the novel 'Nostromo' by Joseph Conrad"; about an honest man who runs a silver mine for a rich man on a tropical island, and he is engaged to one woman but loves another, and he gets the idea to steal a lot of silver and run off with the other woman, but when she rejects him because he has become a thief, he confesses to the owner of the mine) starring George O'Brien, Lou Tellegen, Joan Renee, Helena D'Algy, Hedda Hopper, and Harvey Clark. Note that there never was another movie adaptation of this Joseph Conrad novel. In 1991, legendary British director David Lean was to start filming a movie adaptation of Nostromo, with Steven Spielberg producing it for Warner Bros., but Lean died a few weeks before the principal photography was to begin. Marlon Brando, Paul Scofield, Peter O'Toole, Isabella Rossellini, Christopher Lambert, and Dennis Quaid had all been set to star in this adaptation. What a wonderful movie it might have been!

Important Added Info: Note that this is a hand-colored card. In the days of silent film prior to the invention of good quality full-color printing, studios would have lobby cards printed in black and white and then amazingly would hire women to hand-color the cards one at a time (apparently labor was very cheap at the time)! So, each card is colored slightly differently, and the coloring is never a perfect match.

Condition: very good to fine. There is an extremely tiny piece off in the bottom right blank corner. The bottom left blank corner is slightly creased.
