A Vintage English Hardcover Book (measures 5" x 7 1/2" [13 x 19 cm]; 257 pages) (Learn More) Ian Fleming's Diamonds Are Forever, the 1971 Guy Hamilton English James Bond 007 secret agent spy espionage fantasy action adventure thriller ("Diamonds are Forever Forever Forever Forever Forever Forever"; based on the novel by Ian Fleming) starring Sean Connery (as James Bond), Jill St. John ("as 'Tiffany Case'"), Charles Gray (as Blofeld), Lana Wood (billed as "also starring Lana Wood as 'Plenty O'Toole'"), Jimmy Dean, Bruce Cabot, Lola Larson (as "Bambi"), Trina Parks (as "Thumper", one of the few black African American Bond girls!), and Denise Perrier. Note that the part of Bambi was originally played by Donna Garrett, but she was replaced mid-filming by Lola Larson, and no footage of Garrett remains in the movie, but there may be some publicity photos with her (Garrett and Larson looked very much alike). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: These books were usually offered one year after the Cape first editions, and some share the same Jonathan Cape artwork, but after the 'Thunderball' painting was damaged while on loan in America, Cape would no longer lend out the original art. Because of this, the Book Club commissioned their own action packed and striking cover designs. Note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads. We have also included an image of the dust jacket removed from the book, and completely opened, so you can see the entire jacket, including the flaps. Note that we are not rare book dealers, but we have auctioned thousands of movie related hardcover and softcover books. When we do so, we picture the cover of the book, the title page, and the page with the printing information, so that should allow everyone to quickly identify whatever information they need as to what edition of the book it is (and the images should also give you a good sense of the exact condition of the book in addition to what we wrote below). If you have a correction or addition to the information we list, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
UPDATED 04/07/2014: Note that a knowledgeable collector tells us that the 11 English Book Club edition novels that we are currently offering in separate auctions (including this one) are from a complete set. The Book Club was initially known as the Reprint Society (as can be seen on their first Bond novel "Live and Let Die") and they published 11 of the 14 Ian Fleming Bond books. Condition: good to very good. There are tape stains on the first two interior blank pages and the last two interior blank pages, and there is a tape stain on the inside flap of both the front and back covers of the jacket. There is 1 1/2" of separation in the top left of the cover of the jacket at the spine, with creases in that area. There is tiny paper loss at the bottom of the spine of the jacket, which is in a protective sleeve. The book itself is in pretty good condition. Learn More about condition grades
