A Linenbacked French Advertising Poster (measures 47 1/4" x 63" [120 x 160 cm]) (Learn More) Fap'Anis, the circa 1920s French advertising poster promoting an anise-flavored Pastis aperitif liquor (the creation of Pastis was in response to the banning of absinth in 1915), and featuring art of a sexy flapper enjoying the drink. Note that this is a mysterious poster! The woman depicted is French singer and actress Gaby Deslys, who was extremely popular throughout the world in the 1910s. However, some suggest that this poster was part of a hoax perpetuated by a group of humorists, and Fap'Anis never existed. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: Delval Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good to fine.
