Plombieres les Bains, the 1931 French travel poster encouraging people to visit the mineral hot springs at Plombieres-les-Bains, France. The poster taglines translate to "Heal at Plombieres les Bains" and promise that the springs can heal rheumatism and intestinal ailments. Les Bains refers to the hot springs in the area, whose properties were first discovered by the Romans. In succeeding centuries, the baths were visited by Montaigne, Voltaire, the Dukes of Guise, the Dukes of Lorraine, Beaumarchais, Napoleon Bonaparte, Josephine de Beauharnais, Napoleon III, Berlioz, Lamartine and Alfred de Musset. Note that the poster features Jean D'ylen art of an elderly man discarding his blanket and leaping from his wheelchair after a visit to the therapeutic springs.
Artist: Jean D'ylen
Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: very good. The poster has light fold and border wear and a few light and fine creases scattered in various areas. It has a few minor blank border defects (including some slight discoloration at upper left in the blank corner). It is otherwise in pretty nice condition and it displays well!
