An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27 3/4" x 43 1/4" [70 x 110 cm]) (Learn More) Magniscope and Phonograph Combination, the circa 1900s silent movie poster ("Reproducing moving pictures"; "Life Size! Full of Action!"; "Realistic Beyond Comparison"; "Don't fail to see this great entertainment!") promoting one of the early showings of moving pictures including: Express Train, Fire Scenes, Lone Fisherman, Fifth Avenue N.Y., and the Little Reb Cavalry Parade. We found some references to this on the Internet, and it seems to be a process from Thomas Edison that began around 1896 or so. Certainly it is from the very birth of film (it may not be actual "moving pictures", despite what the poster says, but it is certainly one of the first processes that led to moving pictures). If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this one-sheet measures 27 3/4" x 43 1/4" [70 x 110 cm]. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had some tears and tiny paper loss in the right of the bottom border and in the bottom of the right border. It had a few scuffs scattered in the writing. But otherwise, the poster was in surprisingly nice condition prior to linenbacking, especially considering its extreme age. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
