Flaming Youth, the 1923 John Francis Dillon silent romantic melodrama ("Too easy to hug"; "She loved the petting parties, the intimate dances, the gay life. And she lived life too [sic] the full. She was sought by the men. She thought she was popular. And then - she heard a man say sneeringly: 'She is too easy to hug'";' "Does marriage kill love? IT was partly a marriage of convenience. She knew her husband flirted with other women. She was full of youth and the joy of life. She said to herself: 'Why shouldn't I take all there is of love? And she did!"; "The naked truth. A spicy society expose, so startling that the author did not dare sign his right name. Here is a picture that gives you the bald facts, the truth about modern society, with its gay life, its petting parties, its flapper dances, its jazz. It's not a preachment. It presents things as they are. It is for you to decide whether this life if worth while."; based on the novel by Samuel Hopkins Adams) starring Colleen Moore ("an all star cast includes..."), Milton Sills, Elliott Dexter, Sylvia Breamer, Myrtle Stedman, and Ben Lyon. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

Important Added Info: Note that this is the Macaulay Company photoplay edition in its original dust jacket (one of a collection of such books we are auctioning in this set of auctions). Here are some more details about these books: Macaulay (like Grosset & Dunlap) was a publisher that made a deal with some studios to publish "movie edition" hardcovers of novels that were currently adapted into movies. They would republish the original novel as the movie came out (or soon after), and they would put a dust jacket on the book that showed the stars of the movie, and they would include several pages of images from the movie scattered in the book. Oddly, in the case of this movie edition, they did not include any images from the movie within the book, but the stars' images are on the cover of the dust jacket. Perhaps it was published before the movie even was ready, so they did not have access to images from the film. These books were incredibly popular in the 1920s and 1930s. Note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads. Because we know that the dust jacket is an important part of the value of this book, we also pictured the entire dust jacket opened up. Between that image and our other images, you should be able to get a good sense of the overall condition of this book.

Condition: fair to good. The dust jacket has paper loss in the top right corner of the cover (the book itself is in pretty good condition). We have pictured the dust jacket entirely opened and we have pictured the inside of the entire dust jacket. We have also pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads, all of which should greatly help you judge the exact condition of this book!
