Note that this film was shown in the "DeForest Phonofilm sound-on-film process", but only when the movie premiered at the Rivoli Theater in New York City. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this French poster greatly resembles a U.S. insert, both in size and in format. We were not aware that there were ever French movie posters like this until we were consigned this poster and another one from a different silent movie (which we are offering in a separate auction)! Also note that first release 1923 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only auctioned a single window card from this movie until we received this French poster (which may well have the same or a very similar image to that of the U.S. insert, which we have never auctioned)! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was folded like a U.S. insert and it had minor wear on those folds. It had a few tiny pinholes around the edges, with a few within the image. It had a tiny dot stain on Negri's nose at top center and a 1 1/2" tear in the left of the bottom border, and two creases or tears in the left of the top border that very slightly entered the background. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
