An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 24" x 33 3/4" [61 x 86 cm]) (Learn More) Washington Masquerade, the 1932 Charles Brabin Washington politics political romantic melodrama (about a U.S. Senator who is widowed and then he remarries a beautiful young woman, and gets caught up in a scandal) starring Lionel Barrymore, Karen Morley, Diane Sinclair, Nils Asther, Reginald Barlow, and William Collier Sr. Note that this was based on a 1921 play, which also starred Lionel Barrymore, and for unknown reasons, it took 11 years for it to be made into a movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned this poster twice before, and it has now been consigned to us for a third time, so it is still the only example of this poster we have ever auctioned! Also note that this is a rare "pre-War" Belgian poster. Prior to World War II, Belgian posters were much larger than the ones from after the war, and they are extremely rare (because during WWII, there was a massive paper shortage in Belgium, and they took virtually every poster and map, and printed new posters on the backs of them!). What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had very minor wear on the foldlines. It had some pinholes and tears around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
