An Original Vintage Linenbacked Circus Poster (measures 28" x 42 1/2" [71 x 108 cm]) (Learn More)

Christy Bros. Circus (also known as "Christy Bros. Wild Animal Show") was founded by George Washington Christy in 1919 as Christy Hippodrome Shows. Unfortunately, the circus was unable to survive the Great Depression and the last performance was in 1930. Supposedly, Christy kept his elephants and horses and they were used to help build Spencer Highway in South Houston, Texas. George Christy later became mayor of South Houston, serving from 1949 to 1951 and again from 1960 to 1964.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this circus poster!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had some tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some folds, with a few pinholes around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
