Date Sold 12/2/2008Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Outlaws of Red River, the 1927 Lewis Seiler silent Texas cowboy western ("Gerald Beaumont's Drama of the Fighting Texas Rangers"; "Scenario by Harold Shumate"; cowboy Tom Mix goes undercover to infiltrate a gang of crooks, but he is saddened when he falls for a pretty girl who rides with their gang as a female outlaw, but he finds out she was actually an orphan adopted by the gang and that she really is not a bad person, and he breaks up the gang and wins the girl!) starring Tom Mix, Tony ("The Wonder Horse"), Marjorie Daw, Arthur Clayton, William Conklin, and Duke R. Lee. Note that Tom Mix was injured during the making of this movie when a prop gun (fired by a female co-star who was likely Marjorie Daw) accidentally burned Mix with gunpowder (it might have been during the very scene illustrated on the one-sheet!). Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. Note that the image area of this poster has a "weathered" sort of look to it. This was intentional and is how the poster was printed, and it is not the result of aging, and looks quite nice, to my eye. But know that our digital image of the poster is true to how the poster actually looks! The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds and paper loss in the black background above the top left of the "m" of "Tom" in the credits area. There was separation and some minor wear on parts of some foldlines. There were pinholes, creases, smudges, tape stains, and areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster, extending into the very edges of the image on all four sides. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was really expertly backed, and looks incredible! Learn More about condition grades
