An Original Vintage Folded World War II Poster Brochure (measures 9 1/2" x 12 1/2" [24 x 32 cm] when fully folded; measures 38" x 50" when unfolded) (Learn More) That America May Never Forget the Home-Front Campaign, the 1945 U.S. World War II (WWII) General Cable Corporation Home Front poster brochure featuring information and images about available war posters designed to increase productivity and efficiency. Note that the General Cable Corporation was founded in 1927 and produced large amounts of copper and aluminum wire. Naturally, they ramped up production massively during World War II. To show their participation in the war effort, they printed many full-color war posters, which they distributed to all their plants and also sent to government offices as well. This "brochure" (which looks like it is an uncut proof sheet of the final product before it was bound and trimmed) shows images of nine such posters, each on their own "page". On the facing page of each poster, it gives information about how many of each were printed (most say 500 or 1,000, but one says 35,000, which is the one about losing a U.S. Marine, and it also says that the War Department reproduced another 80,000 copies of this poster!). We have never auctioned this brochure before, and we have also never auctioned the nine posters that are reproduced in it (not surprising, since they only printed 500 or 1,000 of each). One could separate the pages of this brochure, and cut out the nine posters (which measure 9 1/2" x 12 1/2"), and they could be displayed, but we suspect may people would prefer to keep this historic brochure intact! The brochure has a copyright page that is dated 1945, which is why we know it is from that year (and some other text references that these posters were produced during the war, so it makes sense that this was done at the end of the war). If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. As noted above, this is apparently a proof of a special brochure made by General Cable Corporation. The pages are uncut and untrimmed. We have never seen a finished brochure, but we wish we could! It generally has some fairly minor fold and border wear, with a few stains scattered throughout. One of the images has pencil marks on the right of the title, and one has notations in the border, along with the date "11-15-45". Learn More about condition grades
