Date Sold 8/20/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Great Walt Disney Festival of Hits, the 1940 compilation release of five of Walt Disney's greatest animated animation cartoons ("Laugh! Sing! Shout with joy! Here comes the fun treat of the year!"; "Glorious entertainment!"; "Combined on one glorious bill"; "Combined! In one big feast of glorious entertainment!"; "Here they are! The greatest pictures Disney ever made!"). The five movies that were shown in this "five bill" were: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs ("Hit No. 1"), Ferdinand, The Bull ("Hit No. 2"), Three Little Pigs in The Practical Pig ("Hit No. 3"), The Ugly Duckling ("Hit No. 4"), and Donald's Lucky Day ("Hit No. 5"). Note that original movie paper from this "five bill" is INCREDIBLY rare, far more rare than that of Snow White's first release (likely because this compilation release only played in a limited number of theaters). We have seen the pressbook, so we know that a full set of movie paper was created for this release (including a full set of 8 lobby cards), but very few posters or lobby cards have ever surfaced! We also know from the pressbook that four of the lobby cards are from Snow White, and that the other four cards are one each from the other four titles! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that, as noted above, this lobby card is extremely rare. While we have auctioned four different scene cards from this compilation movie (as well as two one-sheets, two pressbooks, and two 8x10 stills), we have only once before auctioned this scene card from the Snow White segment, and the person who bought the card had it restored, so it is still the only example we have ever auctioned! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card was folded 4" from the left border and there were creases down that fold. There was surface paper loss at the bottom of that fold. There was a tear in the lower right blank border. There were many smudges and faint stains around the edges of the card with a few scattered in the image. Overall, the card was in fair to good condition prior to restoration. A talented restorer gel backed the card (meaning they backed the card onto a gel material) and they then performed restoration to the above defects, and then removed the gel backing, so that the card still looks and feels like an original card (and it is!), with no backing at all. Given the card's defects described above, the restorer did a pretty good job, but you can see signs of the defects and the restoration, but the card displays pretty well (see our super-sized images to get a good sense of exactly how the card looks now).
