eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 3m0078 BIRDS English double crown 1963 director Alfred Hitchcock shown, Jessica Tandy, ultra rare! Date Sold 2/23/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded English Double Crown Movie Poster (DC; measures 20" x 30" [51 x 76 cm]) (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, the classic 1963 Alfred Hitchcock suspense horror thriller ("Nothing you have ever witnessed before has prepared you for such sheer stabbing shock!"; "'It could be the most terrifying motion picture I have ever made!' - Alfred Hitchcock"; "'...and remember, the next scream you hear may be your own!'"; "The birds is here!"; "Daphne Du Maurier's shattering psychic thriller."; "Based on Daphne Du Maurier's Classic Suspense Story!") starring Rod Taylor, Jessica Tandy, Suzanne Pleshette, Tippi Hedren (billed as "Introducing 'Tippi' Hedren, A Fascinating New Personality"), Veronica Cartwright (13 years old), and Richard Deacon. Note that Alfred Hitchcock used the two taglines "The birds is coming!" and "The birds is here!" on several different types of advertising for this movie, no doubt because he thought it was funny that while it is technically grammatically correct when referring to the movie, they "sound wrong"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only once before auctioned this English double crown (and we have also only once auctioned a British quad, and that was 16 years ago)! However, the person who purchased this from us when we auctioned it the first time now needs to sell it, so we are auctioning it again, so it is still the only example of this poster we have ever auctioned! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The poster has creases along portions of the folds. It has a few tiny dot stains in a few areas (mostly noticeable on back but some can be seen on front at upper center (near the upper crossfold, and at lower center along portions of the vertical foldline, but none are very noticeable or distracting from a reasonable viewing distance). After a simple linenbacking the poster will look great (but we imagine that many collectors of ultra-rare Hitchcock posters would be very happy displaying this poster as is)!
