Date Sold 8/8/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) A Gentlemen's Agreement, the 1915 silent romantic love triangle movie acting melodrama short ("3 part American drama"; about a beautiful young woman who takes care of her elderly mother, and she is fired from a job when she rejects her boss' advances, and then a movie director discovers her and puts her in his movies and falls in love with her, but previously, the top male star of the studio saved the director's life, and the director made him a "gentleman's agreement" that, to repay him, he would never refuse him any request for something he possessed, and of course, the actor wants his girlfriend!) starring Edith Reeves, William Lampe, Joyce Moore, Thomas Allen Rector, and Ruth Lackaye. Note that the IMDb identifies this movie as being titled "A Gentleman's Agreement". There is a slight chance that it was changed before its release, but since the one-sheet poster for the movie clearly says "A Gentlemen's Agreement", we think it is simply a case of the IMDb being wrong (no doubt the result of someone's typo, perhaps many years ago). If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this one-sheet! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster was folded an extra time. It had paper loss in the left of the middle fold, in the center of the man's jacket. It had some creases, tears, and tiny paper loss on parts of the rest of the folds, with some paper loss at the crossfolds. It had pinholes, smudges, stains, tears, and paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone backed the poster onto thin linen with no excess many years ago, and you can clearly see most of the above defects. If I owned this incredibly rare poster, I would have a talented restorer remove it from the old linen and properly re-back it. Learn More about condition grades
