Date Sold 4/2/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Case of the Velvet Claws, the 1936 William Clemens courtroom lawyer legal crime murder mystery thriller (based on the Perry Mason series of books by Erle Stanley Gardner; Perry Mason is about to marry Della Street, and their wedding is interrupted when he is kidnapped!; he gets involved in the case of a woman who thinks she killed her rich husband, but actually, she missed with her shot, and someone else shot him afterwards, and Perry proves it all, and gets back just in time to go on his honeymoon with Della) starring Warren William (as Perry Mason), Claire Dodd (as Della Street), Wini Shaw (billed as "Winifred Shaw"), William 'Wild Bill' Elliott (billed as "Gordon Elliot"), Joe King (billed as "Joseph King"), Addison Richards, Eddie Acuff, Olin Howland, and Dick Purcell. Note that this was the fourth of four Perry Mason movies that Warren William starred in (he was the screen's first Perry Mason, starting with "The Case of the Howling Dog" in 1934). There were two other movies in the 1930s with other actors in the lead role (Ricardo Cortez and Donald Woods), and then of course, there was the classic TV show from 1957 to 1966 with Raymond Burr playing Perry Mason. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good. The card had a stain in William's cheek and nose, slightly affecting his eye. There are also some marks in that area and in the background to the left and right of William's head. There were a few pinholes and minor wear around the edges. Overall, the card was in fair to good condition prior to restoration. A talented restorer gel backed the card (meaning they backed the card onto a gel material) and they then performed restoration to the above defects, and then removed the gel backing, so that the card still looks and feels like an original card (and it is!), with no backing at all. The restorer did what they could with the defect in William's face described above, but you can see signs of it and its restoration. The card displays fairly well (see our super-sized images to get a good sense of exactly how the card looks now). Learn More about condition grades
