Date Sold 3/5/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Still (Learn More) Mary Pickford was a Canadian actress from the 1900s to the 1930s. She was one of the top silent actresses, who specialized in playing young girl roles as an adult, and she was called "America's Sweetheart", and when she married Douglas Fairbanks, Sr. in 1920, the country rejoiced (and the country mourned when they divorced in 1936!). Some of her movies include: Little Annie Rooney (in the title role), Sparrows, My Best Girl, Coquette (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role), and Tess of the Storm Country. She passed away in 1979 at the age of 87. Important Added Info: What a wonderful photo this is! It is from the 1933 Chicago World's Fair ("A Century of Progress"), where the Ford Motor Company exhibited the very first Ford car built by Henry Ford in 1892! This publicity photo shows film star Mary Pickford standing next to that historic car (you can see the plaque about it behind her head), and the photo is stamped "FORD PHOTO CENTURY OF PROGRESS" on the back. So this photo is historic both for its automobile connection and its film connection! Our consignor purchased this from an auction of items from Mary Pickford's estate, but he does not have a certificate of authenticity. Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
