An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla (released in other English-speaking countries as "Monster Meets The Gorilla"), the 1952 William Beaudine New York City science fiction (sci-fi) horror comedy ("Brooklyn chumps become island monkeys in a jungle full of laffs!"; "A horror film that will stiffen you with laughter!"; "A jungle full of Bali-laffs!!") starring Bela Lugosi, Duke Mitchell, Sammy Petrillo (Mitchell and Petrillo are billed as "Introducing Duke Mitchell, Sammy Petrillo"), Charlita, Muriel Landers, Ramona The Chimp, Ray Corrigan, and Steve Calvert (both Corrigan and Calvert were uncredited, but they shared the title role as the gorilla, wearing Corrigan's gorilla costume!). Note that Mitchell and Petrillo were intended to be an imitation of Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin (and Petrillo was even a Jerry Lewis lookalike), but their career really went nowhere! Also note that Crash Corrigan made a REALLY wise investment in the 1930s, when he bought a "gorilla suit". In many of the movies in the 1940s where there is a fake gorilla, it is played by Crash Corrigan, no doubt because he could supply the suit, and in this one movie, he also loaned his suit to Calvert, who used it in 11 other movies, playing uncredited gorillas! Our consignor is a longtime collector who purchased this signed item from a reputable dealer. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good. The card has creases and small tears around the edges, with a 2" tear in the right of the bottom border that goes into the girl's body. Someone put some pieces of tape on the back (see our images).
