An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Under Western Stars, the 1938 Joseph Kane singing cowboy western musical ("Original story by Dorrell and Stuart McGowan") starring Roy Rogers, Smiley Burnette, Carol Hughes, Maple City Four, Guy Usher, and Trigger. Note that this is the first movie where Roy Rogers had the starring role and was billed as "Roy Rogers". Previously he had bit parts in about twelve movies as Dick Weston or part of the Sons of the Pioneers. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1938 movie posters from this important movie with Roy Rogers' first starring role are incredibly rare. We have only sold two one-sheets and a three-sheet in the past. We had never before auctioned this insert, which has a great image of Roy with Trigger, and he is playing his guitar, until we were consigned it in April of this year. The high bidder on that auction made a mistake in buying the poster, so it is being re-auctioned now, but it is the same exact poster, and it is still the only example of it we have ever seen! Also note that this poster has never been folded! Some pre-1970 insert posters were folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 insert posters (note that most post-1970 inserts were NOT folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those inserts). Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It has staining around the edges and small tears in the upper left border, with one extending into the image, with tiny paper loss next to it, and small paper loss above it in the blank border (see our image). There is much dirt staining on the back of the top 9" of the poster, but fortunately, it has very little effect on the front (see our image). Other than the above, the poster is in pretty nice condition, and it is a giant plus that it was never folded. It can certainly be displayed just as it is, or it could be restored, but either way, this ultra rare poster will look fantastic on the new owner's wall! Learn More about condition grades
