L'Argent (literally translates to "Money"), the 1928 Marcel L'Herbier French silent big business romantic melodrama (based on the novel by Emile Zola; about a major financier in Paris who has an arch rival and an ex-mistress, played by Brigitte Helm, and they both take to light when he is ruined, but he aligns with another financier to recoup his fortune, and throughout there is endless intrigue and double-crosses) starring Pierre Alcover, Mary Glory, Brigitte Helm, Yvette Guilbert, and Alfred Abel. Note that Marcel L'Herbier had been directing French movies since 1917, and would continue directing all the way until 1975. He was one of the most important early French directors, but unlike most of his contemporaries, he is not well known outside of France. But this was one of the last two great French silent films (the other being Abel Gance's "Napoleon"), and both used the same cameraman with wildly inventive camera techniques. Most people hail this movie as a masterpiece, but it only exists in an edited version (because it was originally 195 minutes long!), and it is rarely seen or discussed today. It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of four of the pages of this 8-page program (we did this by opening it and laying it flat and photographing the front and back cover together, and two of the interior pages together). You can see the four of the eight pages, and can well determine the exact condition of it from our super-sized image, but realize that there are four pages you are not seeing. But of course this means that the front cover appears in the top right of our image, but normally, the program would be folded down the center and you would view the cover by itself (and it will be sent folded as was originally intended).

Condition: very good to fine.
