Date Sold 9/26/2023Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Don Knotts was an actor from the 1950s to the 2000s. He is best known for his role as Barney Fife in TV's "The Andy Griffith Show" (for which he won five Emmy Awards). Some of his movies include: Pleasantville, Chicken Little, It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, Cannonball Run II, Big Bully, and The Ghost and Mr. Chicken. He passed away in 2006 at the age of 81. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Don Knotts! Note this still and nineteen others have signatures with an unusual provenance. One of the best known poster exchanges there is, the one in Canton, Oklahoma, was owned for many years by Cleophas and Lou Ann Wooley (and it is still open, but very sadly, Mrs. Wooley passed away). These stills were given (two of each star) by the Wooleys to a friend of theirs who went to many Hollywood events, and he would obtain autographs on both of them, and keep one for himself and send one back to the Wooleys (and often he would tell the star the story, and they would sign one either "To The Wooleys" or to one of them individually. Our consignor does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we are certain the autographs are authentic, and they have a cool "provenance"! Also note that this still appears in every way to be original U.S. release EXCEPT that there is one very tiny line of French type in the lower right. It reads, "IMPRIME AUX ETATS-UNIS D'AMERIQUE". A collector has told us that he believes this means the still was printed for use in areas that included French-speaking parts of Canada, but that it WAS printed in the U.S., and that makes complete sense to us (and we have seen this on stills from the 1940s through the early 2000s, so it has certainly been done for an extremely long time)! So it is an original still from , but it was printed partially for use in French-speaking Canada. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased (although we prefer they do any "authenticating" while the auction is "live" and before they place a bid) and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
