An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More)

The Windjammer, the 1926 Harry Joe Brown silent romantic boxing melodrama (about a mild-mannered young man who loves a girl, but she considers him too "weak", so he becomes a boxer named "The Fighting Gentleman", and he manages to win the championship, which wins him the girl and saves his father's fortune) starring Billy Sullivan, Thelma Hill, and Billy Franey. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

Condition: good to very good. The poster had a 1" x 2" area of paper loss at the top crossfold and creases, tears, and areas of paper loss across the top foldline. There were some tears and areas of paper loss across the center of the poster and also across the bottom foldline. There were creases and tears and some tiny areas of paper loss on the vertical foldline. The borders of the poster were tattered. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The person who did the restoration put new blank white paper over all the borders to even out the appearance (but the small writing at the bottom of the poster was not covered over). This is a common technique used by several top restorers. It is done so well that the majority of collectors are not even aware it has been done, and many do not feel it to be a significant detraction (since it is only blank white area). The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the restoration, more so in the top and bottom foldlines.
