Date Sold 10/1/2023Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 5 stone litho art prints from 1904 to 1908. One of the prints is from 1904 and is of Lillie Langtry (also known as "Lily Langtry"; born Emilie Charlotte Le Breton). She was an English singer born in 1853 in Jersey, and she moved to London in 1876. Her great singing voice and her great beauty brought her major fame, and she was known as "The Jersey Lily". In 1881, she became a stage actress in England and she appeared in many plays in both England and the U.S. In 1888, she bought property in California and established a major winery called Langtry Farms, which is still in operation today. She became an American citizen. She was memorably a character in the 1940 movie "The Westerner", starring Gary Cooper, where Judge Roy Bean, played by Walter Brennan, thinks she is the most wonderful woman in the world, and an actress playing her makes a very brief appearance (this was somewhat reprised in the Paul Newman movie "The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean", made decades later. She passed away in 1929 at the age of 75. Note that these art prints are from between 1904 and 1908, and that they were all printed by the Gray Litho Company of New York, and one of them has signed art by Maud Stumm of Lillie Langtry, and we don't know who drew the others, or who they portray. We do not provide a list of these items, but there are images of all of them. Measurements: 10" x 13"Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades Titles included:
