An Original Vintage Autographed German 3 1/4" x 5 1/4" [8 x 13 cm] Postcard (Learn More) Paul Hartmann was a German actor from the 1910s to the 1960s. He was a popular actor in many films starting in 1915 through 1927, when he took a five year break to act on the stage, and then he returned to making many movies. Hartmann appeared in several Nazi propaganda movies during World War II, which resulted in his being banned from acting for three years after the war, but then he resumed making movies through the late 1950s, and his final role was as a German general in The Longest Day in 1962. He passed away in 1977 at the age of 88. Important Added Info: Note that this postcard has been personally autographed (signed) by Paul Hartmann! Note that eMoviePoster.com originally auctioned this in 2019, and the person who purchased it has reconsigned it to us now. It is from a remarkable collection of items (mostly postcards and German Ross postcards) from the estate of the late Jan Wahl, who had a great love of silent film, and he collected many items from silent films, including this item. Note that this does not come with a certificate of authenticity, but given the fact that Mr. Wahl purchased this item decades ago, and given that he was an expert in such items, we think it is incredibly likely the signature is authentic. This is a rare opportunity to purchase autographed items from great silent film stars that have a wonderful provenance! As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased (although we prefer they do any "authenticating" while the auction is "live" and before they place a bid) and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction.
