An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

1984, the 1956 Michael Anderson English futuristic science fiction (sci-fi) dystopian future melodrama ("Sex Outlawed... In the terrifying world of tomorrow!"; "The Anti-Sex League is Watching You... Even in the intimacy of your own home!"; "Will ecstasy be a crime... In the terrifying world of the future? Amazing wonders of tomorrow! Nothing like it ever filmed! From the startling George Orwell novel!"; "Most horrifying glimpse into the future ever filmed! From the shocking George Orwell novel!"; "From the Book by George Orwell") starring Edmond O'Brien (as Winston Smith), Michael Redgrave (as O'Connor), Jan Sterling (as Julia), David Kossoff (as Charrington), Mervyn Johns (as Jones), Donald Pleasence (as Parsons), John Vernon (uncredited, as Big Brother), and Anthony Jacobs (uncredited, as the voice on the telescreen). Note that in 1949, when this prophetic novel was first written, and in 1956, when this first movie adaptation was made, it seemed the height of fantasy that people would have devices in their home where the public could see and hear everything they did. In today's world, that has come to be true, and most surprisingly, it is the public that have brought those devices into their home, in the form of their phones and computers!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.

Condition: good to very good. The poster had a dime-sized area of paper loss at the middle crossfold and tiny paper loss at the other two crossfolds. There were some tears and tiny areas of paper loss in the blank borders and some faint smudges in the white background areas. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
